This wonderfully scenic location, with its stone-built cottages, village butchers and grocers, country pubs and a wine bar is ideal for kicking back in first gear, or alternatively going out and discovering the countryside, as the surrounding area is somewhat of a walker’s heaven. You may wish to enjoy the nearby Wykeham Lakes (3 miles) and visit the traditional tea rooms for some light refreshment or a pick-me-up! A little further afield the historic market town of Malton (15 miles) offers quaint shopping streets, whilst the famous family beaches and seaside attractions of Scarborough (8.5 miles), Whitby (27 miles) with its atmospheric ruined abbey, Castle Howard (22 miles) house and gardens, and the family-friendly theme park Flamingo World (13.5 miles) are within easy reach.

The front door of this property opens into a porch, which is a handy place for leaving coats and boots before moving through to the main accommodation and collecting your welcome pack. Nip into the separate WC just off here if needed. Head down the hallway and into the open-plan living/dining room and kitchen. There is a handy utility room with a washing machine and an additional fridge/freezer and microwave. After dinner relax on the comfy sofa with your four-legged friend and watch a movie on the Smart TV. Completing the ground floor is a sunroom that opens to the patio, pour yourself a nice cup of tea and sit in the warmth of this cosy little room. When it's time to turn in, head up the stairs to the first floor, where two bedrooms await. The larger bedroom offers a sumptuous super-king-size bed and built-in wardrobes so you can unpack all your necessitites. The second bedroom is a bunk room, ideal for children. After a long day, enjoy a nice warm soak in the bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC.

The cottage was gorgeous - beautiful inside and out, comfortably furnished and didnt take long to feel like home. Brompton is a lovely little village and Scarborough was very accessible with the bus stop just round the corner. We lacked for nothing in the kitchen and were able to cook easily, and the dishwasher was a great help! This is a lovely, comfortable, and bright cottage in a the wonderful and friendly village of Brompton. It was well equipped, spotlessly clean, and very nice just to hang around in. Also very peaceful, with great walks on the doorstop, not to mention the wonderful butchers (which also sells bread, wine etc.) and the wine shop/bar up the road.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the old chapel. I do t think we would change anything about the cottage, it catered for all of our needs and the kids loved the use of the hot tub. The area itself has many great places to visit within an hour or less. Our list of places included Goathland, with the beautiful mallyann spout waterfall and the villagRead moree itself. The village of Helmsley, the castle and nearby abbey were worth a visit. Whitby, Scarborough are local. We highly recommend this cottage. Hide
