Property code: 83196

A quaint little bothy close to the shore of Loch Linnhe, this cottage is a perfect romantic retreat for nature enthusiasts and for those that enjoy the great outdoors.

This charming bothy offers stunningly wild scenery and plenty of outdoor activities. Whether you enjoy simply walking alongside the sea and taking in the views, or prefer something more active, this is the ideal location. Heading 15 miles north to Fort William, which sits beneath Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis, you will discover several outdoor activity centres. From the adrenalin rush of white-water rafting to spotting golden eagles on a leisure cruise on the loch, there is something for everyone. A unique way to enjoy the stunning natural landscape is by steam train – enjoy a nostalgic ride on The Jacobite from Fort William to Mallaig to take in the magnificent views. Alternatively, take one of the many boat trips available on the loch, sit back and relax and watch out for dolphins, seals, red deer and golden eagles.

The entrance to the front of the bothy leads into a boot room with the open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area to your right. The stylish fitted kitchen contains an electric oven, induction hob, fridge, dishwasher and microwave, and there is a washer/dryer housed in the boot room. There is a sizeable dining table which nicely breaks up the space between the kitchen and lounge. The lounge has a Smart TV and wood burner with sliding patio doors that provide fantastic views of the loch and the surrounding countryside. Through in the king-size bedroom, there is beautiful hand-crafted wooden furniture and two windows with views of the water. There is a shower room with WC that is accessed from the hallway between the bedroom and main living space.

The garden is mainly laid to lawn and has a perimeter fence – please note though that this fence is not entirely dog-proof as it has been chosen so as to not interfere with the loch views beyond the field in front of the property. There is also livestock in the fields surrounding the estate all year round, so please ensure that dogs are always kept under control. Guests can relax on the patio which contains some garden furniture, where you can enjoy the spectacular views across the horizon. Parking for one car on the gravel driveway is situated at the side of the cottage, where you will find an electric car charging point.

Nice cottage and peaceful location. Bed was too firm for me but my husband liked it. Shower was very good. Parking was easy. No way could our medium size dog be let loose in the garden which was a shame. We found the bedroom quite cool in the morning, only 16 degrees, which made getting dressed a rush. A really well equipped and comfortable cottage with stunning views. A variety of wildlife visited each day from Red deer to ospreys. Lovely place with an amazing view of the loch and mountains. This is quite an isolated area, therefore one should bring lots of supplies. As the ferry crossing from Glencoe has not been working for a while, it does add another one and a half to the journey, going up to Fort William, then across towards Mallaig, then single track road down to ArdgouRead morer. Despite the very long journey, it was a great break with amazing scenery, and a very comfy bed for the night. Hide

At first glance (when you find the place) the cottage looks great however dont expect any home comforts.
