This handsome property offers a touch of grandeur in a peaceful and romantic setting.

Situated at the far head of the Kentmere Valley parallel to the Troutbeck Valley, this is a protected and unspoiled area of natural beauty, popular among walkers yet incredibly peaceful. From the village of Kentmere, follow the track that leads to a splendid collection of mountain tops including Thornthwaite Crag, Froswick, High Street, Mardale Ill Bell and Harter Fell. The nearby village of Staveley boasts a 1388 church, a range of shops and a few inns offering restorative hearty meals. A three mile drive from here will take you to the linked towns of Bowness and Windermere, where you can jump aboard a steam boat, browse the independent shops or simply sit back and enjoy the spectacular view of iconic Lake Windermere.

A private entrance opens into a small hall where you can leave walking boots and coats before continuing through to the welcome sitting room. Decorated in soft neutral tones and filled with natural light through large sash windows, this room is light and airy by day and cosy and warm by night when the wood burner is roaring away. Enjoy meals with a view at the small dining table in the window before settling down to enjoy a good film. The kitchen is compact yet well-equipped and opens onto the rear garden. Upstairs, the bedroom is spacious and elegant with a luxurious king-size French antique style bed, en-suite shower room and delightful coffee table from which to sit and admire the inspiring mountain view.

Outside, the communal grounds offer plenty of space for all guests to enjoy. Dine on the terrace overlooking the valley or find a shady spot to relax with a good book on the grassy banks.

 

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Please note there is a refundable £100 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

We had a lovely stay at The Mews. The location was great for what we wanted, a little further out of a town and beautiful walks on the doorstep. It was also perfect for our dog who could make use of the grounds too. The attention to detail in the cottage was lovely. We would definitely come again and recommend it. Leanne and Martyn

We had a wonderful stay at The Mews. Everything was as described and we were incredibly cosy, warm and content. The cake waiting for us on arrival was much appreciated and we couldnt have asked for a more peaceful location. We will definitely be returning.

The cottage is in a beautiful spot, with magnificent views from the bedroom window. It is extremely comfortable, well equipped, small but absolutely ideal for a short stay for two. I would recommend that you arrive in daylight hours and take care travelling up the drive as the pot holes make the short distance somewhat precarious !

Situated in a beautiful and secluded part of the lakes, it's a great place to really get away from the stresses of modern life. Though it is a little out of the way for things like grocery shopping we never felt too far away from things to do and see as far as attractions, nice walks and towns go.

We had a very nice stay in the Mews, and would recommend it to others. When we arrived we found the radio on (our favourite Classic FM!) and a lamp lit, as well as a delicious chocolate cake. These were lovely touches and much appreciated.

It is more than 30years since we last holidayed in Capplerigg, then owned by the Wyons- my parents-in - law. We met with Mrs Cummings who purchased the property from the Wyons and did some wonderful reminiscing and congratulated Mrs Cummings on the improvements made since we last tramped through the place in muddy boots and wet suits. - alas, no moRead morere following the superb upgrades. Our house of choice was the Mews since that is the one we used all those years ago but much cosier now following the increase in size to the Pengennet.
