Good food, peace and quiet, beautiful scenery, and the seaside: this is all on offer locally for guests staying at this property, not to mention a huge choice of outdoor pursuits and places of interest. Spend your days walking in the fells and mountains of the lake district, or perhaps head out onto Lake Windermere on one of the leisurely cruises. More adventurous or sporty types might like to try kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, or even open-water swimming if they are feeling brave, or perhaps stay on dryland and give abseiling, gorge walking, or ghyll scrambling a go. There is also lots on offer for those with an interest in finding out more about the heritage and history of the area, with the homes of Beatrix Potter, John Ruskin, and William Wordsworth all being open to the public and all offering a fascinating insight into the lives of these famous Lake District residents.

Guests enter this property in the hallway/utility room which is where they can leave coats and muddy boots, and is also where the washing machine and tumble dryer can be found. From here they will come directly to the kitchen, which is well-equipped with a Range oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, and dishwasher. Next to the kitchen is the first of two reception rooms, a welcoming lounge/diner which, in addition to the dining table also has a comfy sofa, a flame-effect gas fire, and a TV/DVD. The second lounge offers yet another space for guests to relax, again with a flame-effect gas fire, and TV/DVD, but this time with French windows which open onto the courtyard garden. Upstairs there are two tasteful bedrooms both of which benefit from their own en-suite facilities. The master bedroom is a spacious king-size room offering plenty of wardrobe space and a dressing table as well as its own TV. A door leads through to the en-suite bathroom, a sanctuary-like room with a deep corner bath, separate shower, and a WC. The second bedroom is a twin room, finished to the same high standard as the master bedroom and benefitting from an en-suite shower and WC.

Patio doors from the lounge lead out to the shingled courtyard where guests will find garden furniture, making it the perfect spot for sitting out in the evenings enjoying alfresco drinks or meals. There is a gated parking area to the side of the property which has space for two cars.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 king-size with TV and 1 twin
  • En-suite bathroom with bath, shower, and WC to the king-size room

Absolutely loved staying at Rossendale House. It was so comfortable and had everything we could have needed. The owners have clearly thought about how to make it a home from home for their guests. Beautifully decorated, very very comfortable and perfectly located. Cant wait to go back!!

We enjoyed a very wet week in Cartmel but the cottage was so well equipped and beautifully presented the weather didnt matter as we had a great base to come back to and dry off! It was great to have the area inside the back door to put wet waterproofs and walking boots. Having offstreet parking during race meetings was brilliant. Beautifully situated, only used the car twice all holiday as so much to do in & around Cartmel. Great bacon baps for breakfast from the adjacent Food Shed, not impressed by the pub opposite. Great pubs/wine bars/Pizza in the village centre, choice more limited Monday to Wednesday as some places closed. Great walks from the cottages including the raRead morececourse & up the hill to the hospice monument. Cottage perhaps in need of a deep clean & new showers but wouldnt put me off staying again! A charming, cosy and comfortable house. Light and bright. The perfect place to relax. The location was spot on. Delightful little walk into the village and a good situation for visiting various places. Was hard to leave but I will definitely book again and highly recommend Rossendale House.

My friends and I found the house a perfect size for the 4 of us, exceptionally comfortable, especially the beds and the luxury of a bathroom attached to each room. The kitchen is very user friendly and well equipped. The house too is well lit, plenty of lamps to deliver a cosy feel on a dark winter evening. The central heating is very efficient tooRead more. The boot room entrance area is great too and of course the off road parking area. Hide

Great house! Lots of space, incredibly comfortable and brilliantly located. Even bigger bonus is the off road parking (gold dust in Cartmel). So much storage space and a well equipped kitchen. The two en suite bathrooms were a great bonus as was the utility conservatory!

Great cottage in an excellent location - hardly needed to move out of the village - enclosed yard was particularly useful for the dog to roam around - and of course the off road parking is a bonus. Dog walking around the racecourse area is great - cottage very well equipped - slight plumbing issue but very responsive owner
