Squirreled away in a hidden valley in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this cottage unlocks the spectacular Hartland Heritage Coast with it breathtaking rugged coast, pebble beaches, abundant wildlife and rolling deep blue seas. Set close to the quintessential fishing villages of Appledore and Clovelly, Hartland Peninsula is known for its amazing landscape and has played host to many TV and Film productions. Drive to either Devon’s Westward Ho!, or Cornwall’s popular Bude with miles of sandy beaches to spend memorable days surfing, swimming or sunbathing. With Devon’s most famous adventure parks The Milky Way, The Big Sheep and North Devon Wake Park only a few miles away, kids of all ages, teenagers and adults will have an unforgettable day out. This charming single-storey cottage conversion is quietly situated on a small holding with one other cottage, nestled down a tiny track at the bottom of the valley just outside Hartland village with its own private driveway. Park and unload beside the barn and step up some external steps and into the open-plan retreat.

Upon entering the beautiful single storey accommodation, you are greeted with a gallery corridor which leads you to the bathroom, two cosy bedrooms and the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with the views over the valley. In the summer you can open the double French doors to let the outside in, or in the cooler months snuggle up on the comfy sofa and watch the seasons change while watching your favourite programme on the Smart TV with Netflix. The well-equipped kitchen area has a Rangemaster gas oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher, perfect for trying out new recipes or old family favourites. There are two immaculate bedrooms, the forest bedroom has a king-size bed and is designed to bring you back to nature and offer a cosy night in. The leaf bedroom is a super-king-size bedroom with zip-and-link beds, which can be made into a twin on request. This bedroom looks out into the garden. The Victorian style bathroom has a rainfall shower over the deep claw-foot bath and WC.

Venturing outside through the French doors from the open-plan living space is a large terrace which overlooks the valley and down to the river it is perfect for outdoor dining, relaxing, stargazing or watching the wildlife. Guests will find seating, a swing chair, pizza oven and a gas BBQ. In addition to the terrace is an enclosed garden great for both children and dogs to play safely. From your doorstep, you can explore 20 acres of sloping private woodland, pasture and meadow ideal for a summer picnic or an autumn stroll. Take a walk to appreciate the countryside, listen to the birds or dip your toes in the river, build a den or switch off surrounded by wildflowers, or take the footpath by the entrance for a stroll to Hartland Abbey or a longer walk to the magnificent Hartland Point or Quay. There are handy external hanging racks for wet suits and boots, as well as a hot water tap, perfect for washing muddy paws and boots. There is also off-road gravel parking available at the property. For food lovers there is plenty of choice, with some of the best restaurants in the South West nearby.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

An absolutely amazing place to stay. Jay & Mike were so hospitable and their cottage is stunning. We had awful weather but it didn't dampen our enjoyment nor our dogs :) We walked in their lovely woodland and meadow area, chilled on the deck looking at the view and whiled away hours chatting over dinner. It is very well equipped and cosy warm with Read morelovely touches all around and amazing welcome hampers for both humans and canines. We will definitely return. Hide

We had a wonderful week at River Valley View The location for us was perfect as we could walk from the property into Hartland with well stocked shops and pubs for dining out. We also walked to Hartland Abbey and the coastal path. Easy drives around to further walks and a short walk to the first rate Pattard restaurant. This cottage was exactly the holiday location we were looking for. It is set in the grounds of a smallholding, which is great for children to explore and the interior is beautifully decorated and well equipped. An amazing stay from start to finish. The cottage is immaculate, everything to the highest standard. The kitchen is equipped to perfection! What a fantastic property. Blissfully quiet and secluded, yet within walking distance to the village.
