Ideal for a romantic getaway, this wonderful and stylish cottage is perfectly situated to explore the magic of the North Lakes. With splendid views over Ullswater, you can enjoy the delightful seclusion.

This superbly appointed, traditionally built Lakeland miner's cottage has been recently sympathetically and comprehensively renovated. It sits near the gable-end of a terrace of rural stone-built cottages dating from the mid-1800s and is situated in a delightfully secluded wooded enclave. Its garden has splendid views out over Ullswater and the cottage is set back in an elevated position just half a mile from the road running alongside the lake. The property occupies a truly idyllic location, above Glencoyne Valley, with the slopes of Sheffield Pike behind, leading up to Helvellyn. The cottage is approached along an unmade woodland track and its garden is often visited by an abundance of wildlife, including red squirrels, in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

You enter the property through a small porch giving onto the open-plan pitch-pine beamed kitchen/living room. The living area is comfortably furnished with a small sofa drawn facing onto an impressive double-doored wood burner. The kitchen area is served by an AGA stove and equipped with a Belfast sink, fridge, dishwasher, and beech-wood and butcher's block work surfaces. A small traditional dining table separates the kitchen and living area. The room is well lit, with wall-mounted and ceiling lighting. A short staircase leads to a well-furnished bedroom with a double bed and built in wardrobes. The wainscoted bathroom is entered directly from the bedroom and is equipped with a traditional roll-top bath, hand-held shower, basin, WC and heated towel radiator. The limed-oak floors of the bedroom and bathroom are served by underfloor heating.

Outside, the property boasts a shared lawned area looking over mature apple and thorn trees and across the valley. The lawn is bound on one side by mature mixed hedging and on the other is open to views of the lake The garden offers an enviable area in which to sit and enjoy the lake views, and is equipped with a garden bench and table for this purpose. The large local slate gravelled area offers excellent parking and a lovely outlook over the lake.

Great location but the cottage is a bit small if you have a couple of dogs of Retriever size. Also it is very hot inside with an AGA running continuously.

The location of the cottage, the views and the surrounding area for walks were fantastic. A little bit warm in the cottage, due to aga being on all the time ..... couldn't open downstairs sash window, so had to keep door open instead!

Superb spot with walking straight from the door. Comfortable and cosy compact accommodation ideal for able couples. The stairs will not suit anyone with slight mobility issues as they are small and steep. Really enjoyed our stay. Glenridding with its facilities was an easy 1.5 mile walk away.

Lovely cottage, quiet location and great for walking. Local pub not great for food though Inn on the Lake was much better.. Go prepared with provisions to ensure you can make a drink when you arrive. We drove for 8 hours and there was nothing provided at the cottage and local shop closed. All in all a nice stay tho

The cottage is beautifully decorated, and in an absolutely wonderful location for local walks. There is some discomfort, however, in that the heat from the Aga can overpower the small house. The Aga was great to cook with. The downside however is that it generates so much heat the cottage felt a little too warm. The bath shower attachment was a little poor. We dont want this to distract from the quaintness of the cottage and the stunning location.

It's a beautiful cottage, in a beautiful location. The perfect place to escape for a get away. There are lots of walks you can do straight from the cottage, and you can see Ullswater from the drive away. My only comment would be make sure you bring enough walking clothes if that's your plans for your trip as there isn't a washing machine.
