Property code: 89094

Masham's historic little market town is situated in the lower reaches of pretty Wensleydale alongside the River Ure. There's a huge market square, where a bi-weekly market every Wednesday and Saturday offers various local produce. With plenty of walking trails in proximity, discover the 120 acres of natural beauty at Hackfall Woods AONB, along with Himalayan Sculpture Park 3 miles away in Grewelthorpe. The town boasts a good range of crafts, galleries, shops, restaurants and pubs and has become best known perhaps as the home of two breweries, Theakstons of Old Peculiar fame and the Black Sheep Brewery. The popular towns of Ripon (9 miles), Thirsk (14 miles), Richmond (14 miles) and Harrogate (19 miles) are an easy drive away.

An outstanding and substantial Grade II-listed double-fronted townhouse is situated just off the market square in the heart of the picturesque market town of Masham. Tastefully designed for families or a group of friends, this spacious retreat is an exquisite choice for a memorable holiday experience. A classic-style hallway welcomes you inside, dividing off into a series of rooms. At the far end of the hall, you will discover a generously sized kitchen with a long central island, and you can perch on a stool at the breakfast bar, drink in hand while the chef of the group prepares a home-cooked meal. Enjoy your family meals around the table in the neighbouring dining room which comfortably seats everyone. Look forward to settling down in the cosy lounge afterwards, snuggling up on the sumptuous sofas and watching a film on the Smart TV whilst being warmed by the heat from the wood burner. An additional snug room is an ideal retreat for younger guests to entertain themselves where they can watch their choice of film on another Smart TV. As one would expect from a house of this calibre, there are useful service areas including a utility and boot room that also gives access to the rear courtyard. If a moment of quiet is what you're after, head to the sunroom where you can pour yourself a refreshing drink and relax in the courtyard. When it's time to get some sleep head up the first set of stairs and to a landing with three super-king-size bedrooms, each with beautiful bedding and space to store your items – one of the rooms boasts its own en-suite bathroom too. There is also a lovely family bathroom on the floor. Leaving you spoilt for choice once more, the third floor is equally as elegant, with two further bedrooms; a king-size and a twin room plus an additional family bathroom.

Outside is a private courtyard where you can enjoy a family BBQ dining alfresco with a fire pit to keep you warm sitting on the lovely garden furniture in the Yorkshire sunshine.  There is also a separate  games barn complete with multi games table and wood burner.

We had a lovely stay in this warm and comfortable house. The kitchen is a great space to cook and mingle, the Aga was a bonus. The bedrooms were lovely and very comfortable too. Well situated in Masham with a two minute walk into the centre. There was no washing up liquid and dish cloths but the Co-op is handy. The pizza oven was a great success alRead morethough we had to buy wood. The games room was in an outbuilding and obviously cold and damp in January. These issues didnt spoil our stay. Hide

We had a lovely stay at Prospect House. The property is spacious, warm and well-equipped and as a group of 8 adults and 3 small children ( 3, 1 and 9 months) everything worked well for us. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area ( car trip necessary) and some lovely local walking routes. The town is well-served with pubs and cafes and there aRead morere good local shops and a large Co-op. We had lovely family evenings around the large kitchen table. Hide

For us the location was ideal, easy walking distance of the Market Square, lovely fish & chips shop ( worth noting that it closes at 7.30pm) pubs and a selection of independent shops.

The only plus point of the house is the huge beds and bedrooms. Living areas were dirty and I had to hoover & mop myself upon arrival. Not very welcoming or inviting as you arrive at the dirty back door or as youre greeted by other guests rubbish that hasnt been cleared. Would not recommend unfortunately.

We had a lovely week in Masham. Prospect House is ideally placed for lots of lovely walks and some great pubs. The house is furnished to a very high standard and the beds are mega comfortable. There's a Market on the Saturday and Wednesday which was fabulous for local produce. Our car never moved for the entire week we were there.
