This beautifully presented period cottage would make an idyllic Lake District hideaway for a romantic getaway for two, offering the perfect location for enjoying a relaxing couple’s retreat. This spectacular area of natural beauty is unsurprisingly popular among keen walkers, with wonderful mountain, valley, and lakeside routes on the doorstep. From the hamlet of Kentmere, a track leads to a splendid collection of mountain tops including Thornthwaite Crag, Froswick, High Street, Mardale Ill Bell, and Harter Fell. Just 3 miles from the cottage is the village of Staveley, which boasts typical Lakeland stone buildings, the Rivers Kent and Gowan, a beautiful church, and a selection of shops and inns. Also, within easy reach is iconic Windermere, with its literary history, bustling centre, and beautiful lake, while Kendal offers larger stores, supermarkets, art galleries, a theatre, and cinema.

This delightful, detached cottage is one of two properties huddled in this peaceful valley location. Leave muddy boots and coats in the snug area at the door before continuing through to the farmhouse-style kitchen complete with a dining table, AGA-style oven and hob and quirky vintage touches, this is a charming room for enjoying candle-lit suppers. After meals, step to the inviting sitting room where an inglenook fireplace with roaring wood burner, stylish sofas, and cosy rugs await with TV. From the small hall, there is the pantry with plenty of space for your food and also a fridge/freezer. Next is the snug which is the ideal place to sit back and enjoy a book in one of two armchairs or enjoy the view from the windows. Head up to the first floor where you’ll find the bedroom, which features a king-size bed, and spectacular valley views through a charming sash window. The compact yet stylish bathroom has a bath and WC.

Outside, the communal gardens are rich in colour and scent during spring and summer. Take to one of the wooden benches to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or evening drink with a view.

The cottage was stunning. Pictures don't do it justice. Beautiful location - very very rural but 10 mins drive to a lovely village with a great pub, brewery, bakery, chocolatier and more! Beyond that another 10 mins drive to Morrison's etc. Excellent location if you're visiting windemere/ambleside etc. Cottage - just perfect. Wonderfull location, very friendly and helpful hostess. The cottage itself is nicely decorated but misses a few mod cons (shower, dishwasher) and a good matress to make it the perfect holiday cottage.

We had a wonderful stay. Really felt away from it all in such peaceful and beautiful surroundings. The enclosed garden was stunning (photos dont do it justice!) and perfect for our dog to play in safely. It even has a small stream running through it so our dog could cool off during the heatwave! Cottage itself was comfortable and spacious with loveRead morely, original features and everything youd need for a week away from home. Great walks nearby and Hawkshead brewery down the road. First time for us to visit the Lake District and we were not disappointed. The cottage itself was at the very end of the road that takes you up the Kentmere valley and that itself was a lovely run. The interior was fabulous and so warm and confortable with a view right down the valley with hills either side. Nook House is a perfect location for a holiday in which you can feel totally part of the Lake District landscape without the crowds. The location may be a little remote for some however perfect for us, with multiple walks direct from the house in stunning beauty. The property itself is perfect and some where we plan to return to many times.

Overall a lovely cottage in a splendid location, the views and surrounding walks were fantastic. The cottage itself was well kitted out, and very tastefully decorated. We really enjoyed the open fireplace and cooking on the range cooker. A very relaxing holiday and highly recommended.

A beautiful sanctuary away from busy life. The Kentmere valley is heavenly and the cottage is so cosy and tasteful. We have stayed in the owners other properties before and would highly recommend. The Lake District works its magic yet again .
