An opportunity to stay at this Grade II Listed house surrounded by smaller cottages and referred to as a “village within a village” in the heart of Appledore, offering a truly unique experience in a very special location.

The village of Appledore has a tempting range of restaurants, pubs and shops to choose from. During the summer take the passenger ferry across the estuary to Instow, where there is a sandy beach and plenty of pubs and restaurants to choose from. A larger beach with its pebble ridge at Westward Ho! is just 3 miles away or you may prefer to walk along the coast Southwest Coast Path to get there. Visit nearby Bideford (under 5 miles) where you will find a range of more shops, pubs, and restaurants. For a fun day out for the little one’s kids, visit The Big Sheep 4 miles or The Milky Way and Wake Park which is just over 11 miles from the property.

Entering through a single oak door leads you into the glorious Mediterranean- style central courtyard. The house has the feel of its very own private community. The private courtyard sits in the centre of all the properties. The house itself comprises five bedrooms arranged over three floors, with a wealth of character features. Stepping into the property through an entrance hall with a decorative tiled floor, the lounge to your left beckons you to relax on the comfortable sofas with a Smart TV, the perfect spot after a busy day exploring. Leading Next is the on to the kitchen/diner, a great social space with slate floor and island unit with granite work surfaces. Well-equipped with everything you could possibly need including a double oven, with plate warming drawer, gas hob, microwave and American- style fridge/freezer. A large farmhouse table and bench seating allow everyone to be able to sit together at mealtimes. A utility room sits off the kitchen area with a washing machine and dishwasher. A separate WC can also be found on this level. A classic Victorian staircase leads up to the first floor which contains a family bathroom with a bath, WC, and a separate shower. Three bedrooms are on the first floor, one super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made up as a twin on request), one bunk bedroom and one king-size, TV and a compact en-suite shower room with a shower and WC. Up again to the second floor, where there are a further two bedrooms and a Jack -and- Jill shower room in between with estuary views, with each bedroom being accessed via its own staircase. The first of these is a zip and link 2’6” twin (which can be made into a king-size on request when booking)king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into two singles on request) with a window enjoying views over the estuary towards Instow and two Velux windows. Lastly, the second room is a second king-size. Both these rooms are in the eaves of the house and have exposed A-frame beams. The Jack & Jill shower room also has exposed beams and estuary views and comprises a shower and WC.
Heading outside, at the end of the shared Mediterranean- style courtyard, through an archway and to the left, you will find a private south south-facing walled garden with lawn, slate patio area ideal for al -fresco dining with the BBQ. Here you will also find a separate garden studio which is a superb space, clad in cedar, with two patio doors leading to the garden with stainless-steel single drainer sink, fridge and separate W/C. It also contains a pool table.

We stayed at the property as a party of 6 adults at the beginning of May for a week & could not fault the property at all. It was of a very high standard , exactly as the pictures depict , exceptionally clean , very well equipped , lovely garden ( note a few steep steps up ) with the addition of a new bench and seating for 12 people ( not in the piRead morecs ) ,really enjoyed pool room ,excellent location , lovely welcome basket of goodies including a bottle of Prosecco. Would definitely book again ! Hide
