An extremely well appointed, comfortable and spacious property in a beautiful part of the country. It was an excellent location to celebrate my 60th birthday with our sons who are based in the north of England. Significant snowfall arrived on the first night meaning that driving anywhere was impossible for the first 36 hours but the snow only addedRead more to the enjoyment of the occasion. This is one of, if not THE best cottage Ive ever stayed in. I cant fault it in any way. In fact I was depressed to have to leave. So comfortable, well decorated, huge yet cozy. Massive garden for the dog. The piano and chess board were a real touch. The little notches on the door frame showing the owners kids heights as theyve grown made me feel waRead morerm inside picturing this as a beautiful country family home. Would 1000% come back. Hide

Very spacious house, nicely furnished and stylish. It's unusual to have so much reception space relative to the number of guests - most holiday cottages cram in as many beds as possible and then you find that the sitting room can't really fit everyone in comfortably. Not a problem here, the sitting room is enormous with three large sofas. Loved theRead more slightly remote location, very peaceful, and the large garden and woodland. Had a good walk one evening to the nearby pub - good food and cocktails. Hide

We had a wonderful week in this beautiful house, with stunning views of the Derbyshire countryside. The decor is warm and welcoming and we much enjoyed the Aga-warmed and well equipped kitchen, and the log-burner in the sitting room. The highlight of our week was a bike trip to the Old Dog pub in Thorpe via the Tissington Trail, stopping off in theRead more beautiful village itself for tea on the way back. Highly recommended, as is the Tagg Lane ice-cream parlour close by. Seriously delicious. Hide

What a house! Hawkston Lodge is a beautiful family (and dog-friendly) home; every detail having been considered to make our stay perfect. We experienced luxury and comfort throughout; the Aga, sound-system and comfiest beds to name just a few of our favourite things. What a location! The outside space is wonderful too. We drank hot chocolate on theRead more patio, played games in the garden, and took strolls in the woodland area - whilst enjoying views of the surrounding countryside. Hide

We had an absolutely brilliant stay! The cottage is in a wonderful location and near some fantastic walks through a dramatic valley and within a 10 minute drive of a couple of very nice pubs. The cottage itself is extremely comfortable and well-equipped. The beds are all very comfortable and the sitting room is a great space. Lovely to have the AgaRead more too. And Charlie was very kind to stock up on a few goodies for us before we arrived! We would 100% stay again. Thank you for a great stay. Hide
