A lovely stone cottage property situated close to the small ferry port of Oban and Benderloch, near the Sound of Mull and Loch Creran. Perfect for exploring Argyll and Bute.

The attractive town of Oban sits on gentle hills above a sheltered bay, looking out to the islands of Mull and Kerrera. It’s known as the ‘Gateway to the Isles’ thanks to its ferry terminal from which many of Scotland’s more remote islands can be accessed. But Oban also has a range of shops and pubs, and fascinating architecture including its own Colosseum-replica, McCaig’s Tower. In the summer months, the streets of Oban are often bustling with visitors and there is plenty to see, including spectacular views from the hilltops above the town and one of Scotland’s oldest whisky distilleries. Also try to time a visit for the popular Oban Games, where you can watch traditional Highlands sports.

On arrival at the cottage, you will find the spacious living room offers views over the loch, with two sofas where you can while away the hours with a book, play a board game in front of the fire or simply watch the boats sail across the loch. There is a TV/DVD for watching films on. The kitchen and open plan dining area come complete with everything you may need to cook up a feast or light snack, including an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, freezer and wine cooler. You’ll find a washing machine and a dryer in the cupboard opposite the oven. There is also a radio and iPod dock available in this kitchen. The dining table makes for a great place to sit chatting for hours. The bedrooms, both with double beds, are upstairs with great views over Loch Creran. The larger of the two bedrooms is on the left at the top of the stairs and has a large wardrobe. Guests in the second bedroom can use the cupboards on the landing to hang clothes. There are two bathrooms; one bathroom is upstairs which has a rain shower with a handheld shower head. The downstairs bathroom is a walk-in shower with WC.

This property has a private pebbled beach which stretches up to the fence – take caution as the rocks can be slippery. Directly outside is a patio with garden furniture. There is are also 66 acres of private farmland to explore alongside the private beach. Please ensure that you close the gate to the property to avoid any uninvited wildlife and cattle when the farmer has them roaming. There is ample space for parking to the side of the house for one car.

Ideally located close to the small ferry port of Oban and Benderloch, adventurers are in just the right place for exploring Argyll and Bute. Familiarise yourself with the locale and pick up one of the many walks from your doorstep, before heading further afield. A must visit, the town of Oban is 17 miles away. Overlooking the bay, it is known as the Gateway to the Isles, acting as the main port of passage to many of the surrounding islands. Also well stocked with shops, pubs, distilleries and interesting buildings (including its own Colosseum-replica, McCaig's Tower), it will be easy to pass the time here.

For somewhere a little closer to get a bite to eat, there is a great restaurant in Creagan, only 4 miles away, as well as eateries in the pretty Port Appin, also 4 miles away. Should you be interested in local history, make sure you pay a visit to Castle Stalker (4.5 miles), Achaduin Castle (12.5 miles) and Dunstaffnage Castle and Chapel (15 miles). If you fancy taking to the water, Loch Linnhe (4 miles) has lots of places to launch for a sea kayaking day trip and has plenty of great amenities available in the surrounding villages of Glencoe, Ballachulish, Onich and Fort William.

Right place superb location in a idyllic surround tranquil at best and enjoyable stay thank you to Rob and Catherine for a lovely home lots of history about its location and the building and looking at wild live is always a joy

This cottage was the perfect setting for relaxing evenings following days walking the hills around Glencoe. We loved the fact we were so secluded down a private drive off a single track road.- and so did the wildlife. Daily visits from deer, herons, buzzards, and seals were a treat. Stunning location and views across the loch. If you are looking for piece and quiet this is the place to go. The cottage is fully equipped and we had the beds and towels changed mid stay. Highly recommend this property.

It is a very comfortable house with all the mod cons, very well equipped compared to other rental properties I have used previously. Its location allows day trips out to some great places to visit on the West Coast of Scotland, or you just stand outside and soak in the stunning surroundings. Rent it you won't be disappointed.

A marvellous retreat miles from anywhere yet enabling access (should you really want to leave the house) to Oban, Mull, Fort William, Ben Nevis and the west coast of Scotland.
