Set high in the Shropshire Hills surrounded by National Trust’s Long Mynd, with breathtaking views across to Caer Caradoc this stone and timber cottage offers simple luxury whatever the time of year.
You will be well served by foot with immediate access onto the Long Mynd and Shropshire Hills, owned and managed by the National Trust and offering well maintained paths, bridleways and mountain bike trails. You can also easily access Caer Caradoc one of the most beautiful Shropshire hills with it’s craggy ridge. For something a little more challenging and further afield is the Stiperstones with Manstone Rock and the Devil’s Chair. Shropshire has many market towns and villages with famous regular festivals and fairs. Of particular note are the nearby thriving market towns of Ludlow and Shrewsbury, with festivals celebrating good food, arts and crafts and music to include the Ludlow Food and Drink Festival held every September and the Shrewsbury Flower show held every August.
Climb the winding hill enjoying the views before you gain your first glimpse of the cottage set within the grounds of the owners estate, set in an elevated position with uninterrupted views across the valley to Caer Caradoc. Step inside and leave your boots by the door. You will feel the immediate warmth through the heated wooden floors from the underfloor heating. The space is open-plan and the vaulted ceiling with exposed frame is a pleasant surprise and is further enhanced by the unobstructed view across the Shropshire hills. The lounge area is simply perfect for a cosy evening in catching up with friends in front of the wood burner, or on a summers evening take advantage of the bi-folding doors opening out on to the patio. A dining table and chairs is set to one side and will accommodate four guests. The kitchen with wooden work tops and shaker style cupboards is well-equipped with an electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, wine cooler, dishwasher and washer/dryer. And so, when the day is done you will find on the ground floor, a bedroom with super-king-size zip-and-link bed (that can be made up as a twin on request). Wake up and enjoy the views across the hills, or simply relax in bed with a morning coffee and watch TV. There is a shower room on the ground floor with WC. Climb the solid wooden stairs to the first floor where you will find a further bedroom with super-king-size zip-and-link bed (that can be made up as a twin bed on request). Take time to admire the breath-taking view across the countryside from the well positioned roof lights or snuggle down and catch a late-night movie on the TV. Across the landing there is a bathroom with bath, separate shower and WC, open the blinds and enjoy the views.
Open the bi-folding doors and step out on to the patio area, a perfect extension of the lounge in the summer months with garden furniture and BBQ provided. The enclosed gardens surround the property with an enclosed barn offering bicycle storage. There is parking for two cars to the side of the property.
