Nestling between the villages of Coniston and Ambleside, this stunning cottage enjoys a fantastic setting overlooking the Great Langdale Valley and its spectacular mountain range.

Skelwith Bridge is a small cluster of traditional Lake District cottages and hotels, set around an attractive stone bridge spanning the River Brathay. Ambleside, Lake Windermere, Coniston, Coniston Water, Grasmere, Elterwater and the other main towns, villages and attractions of South Lakeland are all within a short drive. There are some excellent walks in the immediate area. The track along the river offers you an easy stroll where you will come to the dramatic Skelwith Force with its viewing platform set over the churning waters. Another big favourite is Louhrigg Fell, passing Loughrigg Tarn on route. The walk can be extended to taking in Grasmere and Rydal Water, offering some beautiful views.

On entering this charming cottage you will find yourself in the fresh and beautiful open-plan lounge/diner. A large room with tiled floors set under a host of beams, it is an ideal space to both relax and dine, and, with a traditional wood burner, deep bay windows set either side of the chimney breast, and tasteful furnishings, this is a perfect space for sitting back, enjoying a chat, reading a book or taking in a movie on the TV with Sky Q package. Crossing back through the central hall, you go through to the attractive kitchen which is well equipped with oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, coffee cafetiere and dishwasher. Double doors lead you into a large conservatory with ovely views. Off the kitchen, in the hall, you will find a utility room with laundry equipment and an adjoining WC. From the hall, stairs lead you up to the first floor. Here you will find three comfy bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double bed and perfect views of the mountains. It also has an en-suite shower room with WC. The second double and the twin room are both very comfortable with views out to the gardens and grounds. All bedrooms are equipped with a TV with Sky Q package and DAB radio with Bluetooth. You will also find a family bathroom with corner bath, separate shower cubicle and WC.

The conservatory opens out onto a raised deck where you will be able to sit and watch the varied wild life that visit the grounds and dine alfresco on a warm spring or summer evening. Outside, surrounding the property are extensive grounds, comprising mainly grass with shrubs and trees this is perfect for adults to relax and enjoy the stunning views, and for children to play.

 

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

A lovely cottage in a stunning location. Numerous walks straight from the door, both river and tarn walks. Well stocked kitchen. Very powerful showers, comfy beds, decent sized bath towels, all the important things that make your holiday perfect are done right. Ideal location for our family to meet up for a few days and perfect for our 2 whippets.

Huge garden but not dog secure. Fabulous spacious house, there were 6 of us but plenty of space to go for quiet time. Had an accident with the shower falling off wall, maintenance were out the next day to fix. Very clean, highly recommend

What an incredible find. We were unlucky with the weather but didnt even mind as the cottage made such a beautiful, cosy base for just sitting and looking out at the glorious mountains. You can really tell that it is a second home and not just an anonymous holiday rental. It is well furnished, light and comfortable and the kitchen was well equippedRead more. We very much enjoyed our stay at Carr Crag Cottage which is a very comfortable house in a great location. The garden room is a great space with access to the decking area. It was lovely to walk from the door.

Wonderful location and views. Carr Crag Cottage is a place we'll certainly be coming back to. Well stocked kitchen and v good quality white appliances. A spacious and charming cottage with parking for 2-3 cars which gave us a fantastic holiday.

On arrival we had a major problem with the lack of cleanliness of the house, which we as a family corrected! After that we were able to enjoy, Carr Cottage, which is a really beautiful, warm, comfortable and cosy cottage, with spectacular views, somewhere I would definitely want to revisit!

We love this house and its position and we come back year after year. Its perfect but its now looking tired. The main bathroom shower was broken so the whole family had to use the ensuite for two weeks. The house smelled of dog when we arrived and we had to clean the windows to remove dog smudges & also the dog dirt. There is apparently a right of Read moreway through the private garden for the neighbours and their guests walked straight through the garden at 12.30 in the morning much to our shock. Hide
