Sitting proudly at the top of Wessendoor Moor, this handsomely appointed Grade II-listed, former weavers cottage, is set between the breathtaking landscapes of the Pennines and the Peak District, making it the perfect choice for that traditional stay in rugged West Yorkshire. Nature enthusiasts can explore the extensive National Trust Marsden Moorlands from the gate in the back garden, or wander down to the quaint village of Marsden. Here, you’ll find industrial heritage a plenty: the historic Standage Tunnel and visitor centre; the longest, highest and deepest canal tunnel in the UK, and an abundance of shops, eateries and cosy local pubs. With fishing nearby, and a 9-hole golf course across the road boasting spectacular views of the valley, this rural delight really has something for everyone, including the dogs.

Beautifully renovated and oozing traditional charm, this large, three-storey, detached property offers a fantastic retreat for your next friend and family gathering. Stepping up from the driveaway, you’ll enter the property into the large dining hall; an impressive open-plan entertaining space that follows through into the farmhouse kitchen. This room is complete with exposed stone walls, a tiled floor, and a statement cast iron wood burner. It’s here where you’ll gather for breakfast, lunch and dinner around the beautifully made, solid wood table and benches. The luxury kitchen boasts a Belfast sink, a double-range oven and a pod-style coffee machine to get you ready for a fun-filled day of exploring. You’ll have everything you need to cook up a storm for the group, as well as a dishwasher to avoid any arguments about the washing up. Moving into the lounge, this dramatic but incredibly cosy space had originally been created from the former adjoining stable block; it now offers high ceilings, beautiful views over the valley, and another impressive cast iron, wood burner. With the fire roaring in the background, it’s the perfect space to gather around the coffee table for a game of cards, pick up a book from the huge selection available, or get cosy on one of the three luxurious sofas before tuning into your favourite documentary on the Smart TV. There is also a great quality double sofa bed in the lounge, available on request. A practical laundry room with a WC is located on the ground floor with a washing machine and tumbler dryer. On the first floor, you’ll discover two double bedrooms, each tastefully decorated with its own unique style, lavish linen and comfortable mattresses along with the family bathroom that has underfloor heating, a large free-standing bath and a walk-in rainfall shower. The luxurious master suite on the second floor is where you’re treated to a king-size bed, an en-suite shower, a walk-in wardrobe, and a free-standing bath in the room – the perfect setting to relax in after a long day of exploring. There is also a cosy single bedroom on this floor, perfect for a child. Original oak beams and wooden shutters run throughout every room of the house, curating a cosy, ambient environment that instantly makes you feel like you’re at home away from home.

The long, slightly tiered lawn garden at the rear of the property is entirely enclosed, making it a safe space for children and dogs to frolic in the outdoors. Immediately out the back door is a paved patio area with seating and a dining table, perfect for BBQs on those warm summer evenings. When the weather gets a little colder, reach for the firepit and spend your nights under the starry night sky, sharing stories and making memories with your loved ones. Feel free to make use of the summerhouse with electric supply, the storage shed for bikes and the elevated decked terrace that acts as a fantastic suntrap in the summer months.
