A wonderful retreat, set among nature, and offering bright and vibrant accommodation for the perfect getaway. Carsington Water is just 8 miles away, with water sports, flat walks and pretty spaces. Ashbourne is just on your doorstep, with lots of shops, places to eat and explore. For walking, Dovedale is extraordinarily pretty, and just over 3 miles away. Set just on the tip of the Peak District, there is Matlock Bath with its stunning limestone cliffs and vibrant seaside vibe sits just a little further at 10 miles, and just a little further Matlock offers unique shops, cafes and riverside walks. The property itself has decking all around it, and is enclosed in an area within the land of the homeowner. There are mature trees and plants, making it a little wild life haven where you can enjoy getting close to nature, and relax in the gorgeous green surroundings.

Inside you are met with a bright and vibrant living space, with lots of colour, comfort and space, with original artwork and beautiful furniture and decor. The dining table and kitchen sit within the living area, making a cosy and intimate experience for anyone staying here. There is a dining table that comfortably seats four people, and two large sofas for you and your furry friends to cuddle up on. There is a master bedroom and also a sofa bed option, making it perfect for either a romantic retreat or for a family or two couples to come away together. The master bedroom offers a king-sized bed, and the sofa bed converts to a double bed. This is a truly dog-friendly space, with fully enclosed outside spaces, no dog-free zones, and lots of additional touches to make everyone feel welcome.

Outside on the decking, there is seating and a space to eat, sit, relax and enjoy.  You can enjoy watching the wildlife from inside or outside the property, for bird watching enthusiasts the main seating area is like watching from a hive with visits from rare birds and Blue Jay's, Chaffinch and thrush. Many squirrels and rabbits can be seen in the grounds.

The Cow Shed was of a high standard and ideal location. The owners of the property were very friendly and attentive to all our needs including our dogs. We would definitely book this property again.

We stayed at The Old Cow Shed on the week commencing October 23rd. We had a brilliant stay. On arrival at the cottage we were giving a welcome pack by the owner Vicky including Bread, Wine, Cheeses everything we needed. The property was equipped excellently, everything and more in the kitchen you could wish for and also very accommodating for the dRead moreogs. The location is excellent, close to Carsington Water, Bakewell, and Ashbourne. Plenty of local pubs in the area too. We would highly recommend. Hide

We enjoyed our stay, no need to worry about our dogs getting on the furniture, they had as much difficulty as us in deciding which sofa to occupy. The property was clean & quirky with lots of lovely touches, we could tell that the owners had gone to a lot of trouble to make us comfortable and were there if we needed them. They also provided the besRead moret welcome pack, Vicky even contacted us beforehand to ask which wine we would prefer! Great location for whatever type of holiday suits your needs. Hide

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cow Shed. The cottage was comfortable & cosy. The owners were exceptionally helpful. We found the location very good, very close to Ashbourne (walking distance) and only 3 miles from beautiful Dovedale and Ilam Park so a good base for exploring the Peak District. The enclosed decking area is great for sitting oRead moreut and for having your dog outside. There's plenty of grass area adjacent to the cottage for exercising your dog.
