This lovely cottage is located within the grounds of the owner’s home and has been beautifully finished to ensure a relaxing break in this beautiful part of the Berkshire countryside. The area is a haven for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers with easy access to the North Wessex Downs and the Chiltern Hills. Join the Ridgeway National Trail, a historic walking route popularly known as ‘Britain’s oldest road’. The traditional market town of Wantage is 4.7 miles away and is packed with historic buildings and independent shops. There is a wealth of local attractions within easy driving distance including Highclere Castle (17 miles), famous for being the filming location for Downton Abbey, and the National Trust-run Uffington Castle (12 miles), an outstanding example of an Iron Age hillfort. Also within easy reach is the fantastic city of Oxford (21 miles), famous for its historic university and stunning architecture.

After a full day exploring the wonderful local area, head back to your charming rural retreat. Set on the owner’s working farm, the cottage has been thoughtfully designed to ensure a relaxing stay whilst allowing you to enjoy the picturesque setting. Head into the cottage through the spacious porch, which is a great place to store coats and boots after a walk. The property is all on one level and the main living/kitchen/dining area is open plan to allow couples to spend some quality time together. The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need for a self-catered break, so be sure to make use of the fantastic local produce you will come across when out exploring. There are comfortable sofas to sink into and relax watching a movie on the Smart TV, and a separate dining table where you can enjoy a meal together. The bedroom has a king-size bed and soft luxurious linen, ensuring a great night's sleep. Completing the layout is a wet room with a shower.

To the front of the property is a patio seating area with a charcoal BBQ, ideal for dining alfresco in the warmer months. The cottage is located on a working farm, so keep an eye out for some of the wildlife around the farm. To the rear of the cottage is a separate garden which guests can access which has seating and takes in stunning views across the Downs.

A lovely place to stay. Clean and welcoming, with friendly hosts and beautiful surroundings. Ample parking, Wi-Fi, and lots of peace and quiet. Felt very safe. Great pubs within short drive or leisurely walk

The cottage was wonderful, very nicely thought out and lovely touches throughout. The location really made is, very beautiful and peaceful which was just what we needed. The view from the living room was gorgeous and the patio great for relaxing outside. Lovely countryside for walks and a farm shop near by for local produce and food as well as locaRead morel pubs. Delightful single storey accommodation, though the sofas are a little low for the elderly, or those with bad backs. Owner charming and helpful. If you like being in the middle of nowhere, this is for you. Oxford not too far, nor Abingdon or Newbury. Wantage is a pleasant small town, about 4 miles distant with large Sainsburys with cheapest petrol wRead moree have found. Overall, a very pleasant holiday was had by us here.p Hide
