A bright and spacious two-bedroom cottage, set to the side of the owners’ grounds. Situated in the delightful village of West Tanfield, enjoy stunning views of the River Ure and the surrounding countryside. Take your four-legged companion to the nearby English Heritage site of Thornborough Henges (0.4 miles). There are plenty of local attractions and things to do in the area, including visiting the historic Fountains Abbey (10 miles) and Newby Hall House and Gardens (10 miles), exploring the stunning landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and enjoying a pint at the local pub. For those interested in history, the nearby market town of Ripon (7 miles) is home to several fascinating historical sites, including Ripon Cathedral and the Workhouse Museum. Explore the market town of Masham (5 miles), home to Theakstons and Black Sheep Brewery, and a Yorkshire gin distillery, where you can book tours, sample the wares and create your own gin. Visit Northallerton (17 miles), and Harrogate (19 miles) too, for interesting days out.

Step inside this light, airy, and comfortable accommodation and enter a handy boot where coats and shoes can be left before heading inside. Come through into the kitchen, where you can rustle up a home-cooked meal after a day of exploring the area. The kitchen is well-equipped with all the essentials. Take your meal through to the open-plan living room and gather around the table, perhaps enjoying some local Swaledale cheeses and produce from a nearby farmers’ market while reminiscing on the day's adventure. After dinner, retire to the comfortable sofas, turn on the Smart TV and pick something to watch while being warmed by the log burner beside you. The perfect ending to a long day outdoors on chilly evenings. On balmy nights, take a seat in the garden room, which offers lovely views over the fields behind. There are two well-appointed bedrooms including a king-size room and a super-king-size room which can be split into a twin upon request. Start the day with a refreshing shower in the shower room with WC.

Head outside to the south-facing garden, featuring outdoor furniture where you can dine alfresco. Catch the local hares hopping through the field or the other wildlife that visits the area. A truly tranquil place to sit catching the sun all day long. There is off-street parking for 2 cars.

The cottage was so comfortable, warm, well equipped and very clean. Home from home! We had a lovely week. Ripon is easily accessible. Walking in the area is easy as it is quite flat. Do visit the Workhouse Museum in Ripon and Ripon Walled garden.
