A delightful and stylish detached cottage situated in an enviable location, a stone’s throw from Barnard Castle’s bustling high street (0.5 miles). The market town of Barnard Castle is a real gem, situated in the unspoilt countryside of Teesdale in County Durham. It stands on the site of an ancient Roman fort which crosses the river and offers fantastic independent shops, pubs and cafes, as well as a weekly market and stunning walks along the River Tees. A short walk from the cottage is the impressive Bowes Museum (1 mile), with its colourful collection of European art. Nearby attractions include Egglestone Abbey (2 miles), Egglestone Hall and its walled gardens (7 miles), the historic Raby Castle (8 miles) and the breathtaking High Force – England's highest waterfall (15 miles). Why not visit the historic market town of Richmond (15 miles) or the northern Dales village of Reeth (13 miles) for a slice of Yorkshire life? The beautiful city of Durham (25 miles) and its magnificent cathedral are also well worth a visit.

This tastefully furnished detached stone cottage offers castle views from the front of the cottage and convenient parking to the rear. Step inside the inviting accommodation, hang up your coat and make yourself at home. The kitchen is generously equipped with all the essentials so you can create a lovely family meal with produce from the local farm shops or market. Once the food is ready, gather around the table to plan your next adventure. Venture into the lounge, a relaxing place to unwind in the evening on the comfortable sofas and watch family favourites on the Smart TV. There’s also a convenient ground-floor cloakroom and WC. When sleep calls, climb the stairs to find two lovely bedrooms, the first being a king-size bedroom with plenty of storage space as well as glimpses of the castle from the window. The second bedroom is a single room with an additional pull-out single bed - great for children. The first floor is complete by a modern family bathroom with a bath with shower over and WC.

Doors open out from the lounge and into the garden; a great spot to relax on balmy summer nights while dining alfresco on the table and chairs provided.

This was a lovely house to stay. It was ideally suited for a walk into Barnard Castle. And all that the town has. The house had all that we needed. As we visited in November it was to cold to have the patio doors open but in the summer it would have been lovely to sit out in the garden. We will hopefully be back soon to visit the silver Swan as sheRead more was not working . But it gives us the opportunity to return Hide

Great holiday cottage. Modern, clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed a very relaxing stay, as did our wee dog who loved the treat ball and the local walks.

Absolutely gorgeous property, extremely comfortable with an amazing welcome pack. 10 mins walk into town centre but really quiet location. Off road gated parking was brilliant, Barnard Castle has some lovely walks and pubs, shops, cafes galore. Will definitely be back.

This is a real gem. Lovely, modern, comfy detached property perfect for a couple and dog. Ideal location for many local walks from the doorstep and easy access to town. Great to have a small secure garden for the dog. A new property on a development that is still under construction so some background noise but nothing that really spoilt our visit.
