Dunnerdale is a beautiful valley in the south west of the Lake District sitting between the Coniston Valley to the east, the Langdale Valley to the north, and Eskdale and Wasdale to the west. The clear waters of the River Duddon, one of the Lake District's last remaining salmon rivers, cascade through the hills. Walk or cycle from the front door, leaving your car behind for the week. A particularly lovely walk is along Grass Guards Ghyll, past Ghyll Spout Waterfall on the Grass Guards Estate and over Fickle Steps. The old market town of Broughton is a lovely village with a local shop, award-winning butcher, and local pubs or head over the hills to the well-known village of Coniston and enjoy a day out on the lake with plenty of activities to choose from. Alternatively, take a ride on the steam train from Boot in the Eskdale Valley to the Roman town of Ravenglass.

Inside, the spacious sitting room is beautifully furnished and incorporates the old beams and historic, feature fireplace with its cosy wood burner. Comfortable sofas and armchairs are set around the coffee table and Smart TV. The delightful dining room is the ideal spot to socialise with family and friends and, on warmer days, you can open the doors onto the patio, complete with bistro furniture. This is a real sun trap on a summer's afternoon and offers great views over to the Coniston Fells. The smart, high-quality kitchen offers everything you could need during your stay with an electric hob and oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and microwave. Two bedrooms are located on the ground floor. The first is a beautiful double bedroom with views across to the Coniston Fells, with an en-suite bathroom with bath and WC. The second bedroom offers a king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into a twin on request) and includes beautiful original beams, a feature stone wall, and a door to the garden, with a bathroom including a feature bath, separate shower, and WC. There is also a WC and cloakroom on the ground floor as well as a large utility room with plenty of storage and a second washing machine, dryer, and fridge/freezer. On the second floor, there is a south-facing double room and the second king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into twin beds upon request) These bedrooms are complemented by a luxurious family bathroom with shower over bath and WC.

Great cottage, we had a fantastic time - phenomenal walks and awesome scenery. Plenty to do and see and given the cottage is located where it is, it was lovely and quiet, great to get away from all of the normal hustle and bustle.

Please see above. I cannot fault the house at all. Done beautifully and so comfortable. Plenty of bathrooms and toilets. It was just very hard to find and quite far from anywhere. I organized a lot before we left. Which Im pleased about because I wouldnt have been able to use the internet whilst there. Some scary roads. A map would have been usefulRead more. My walking app didnt work as no gps so I was too nervous to go for a walk Incase we got lost. Going in the river was lovely. Hide

Lovely spacious cottage, very well equipped to a high standard. Fabulous location with lots of walks from the doorstep. Amazing views from the top of Harter Fell. It is remote though and a bit of a drive to anywhere, so be prepared.
