Property code: CLEAR

Beautifully presented both inside and out, this converted barn is located in the charming village of Ludgershall, surrounded by country walks and just 0.5 miles from a family-run pub serving a range of good food. It’s a dreamy couple’s getaway and welcomes your furry friends, too. There is much to see and do nearby, including shopping at the world-famous designer outlet Bicester Village, 6.5 miles, experiencing a motor race at Silverstone, 22 miles, or watching a regatta at Henley, 30 miles. Tour the historic Waddesdon Manor, 9.5 miles, Blenheim Palace, 19 miles, or the dreaming spires of Oxford,18 miles. You might want to head to the Cotswolds and its picturesque villages, including Woodstock, 19 miles, and Chipping Norton, 25 miles. Bicester Hotel, Golf Club and Spa is just 9 miles, and even a day trip to London is very accessible by train from Thame, 9.5 miles, taking less than an hour each way.

Clad in black-painted timber, the picturesque barn makes a fairy-tale-like first impression tucked in the corner of the garden, and when you enter its open-plan living space it just keeps getting better. Sleek decor in jewel-like tones greets you, its style modern, luxurious and super-comfortable. You’ll easily be able to prepare romantic suppers in the excellent kitchen, then snuggle for the evening in the welcoming sofa, perhaps playing a board game or catching up on a favourite series on the Smart TV. On summer days, allow fresh air to flood in through the bifold doors, with lovely views of the garden or, in the winter, switch on the flame-effect electric fire for a flickering glow. There’s also a small desk in case you need to keep up with some admin. The staircase leads to a fabulous double bedroom with a four-poster bed, tucked under a steeply sloping ceiling with exposed beams. Rich colours, reflective surfaces and atmospheric lighting offer a sense of opulence and encourage restful sleep. An intriguing touch is the en-suite shower room, reached through faux wardrobe doors.

Just outside your barn is a gravelled area with loungers and comfortable seating where you can enjoy the sunshine and views over the shared gardens. These include mature trees and shrubs, a croquet lawn, flower beds, striking areas of topiary and a gentle, unfenced stream – perfect for a gentle stroll and, if you wander over to the adjoining field you can even say hello to the resident alpaca. Enjoy a soak in the hot tub, dine under the stars at the elegant outdoor table, which is protected from the elements by a gazebo, or head to the cosy, shared BBQ hut and grill something delicious on the roaring flames.

The barn is compact but entirely adequate for our one-week stay. The village is peaceful and silent - you can walk in the middle of the road so infrequent is the traffic. Llamas are fun and the pub is family run which is refreshing.

A nice little barn on a nice location. Really nice to use the hottub. A little bit dark insite so we need to use the light during the day. But maybe Dutch people ate not used to stay in a cottage. Nice location to make trips to estates in the surrounding.
