This property enjoys a simply stunning location looking down on Coniston Water and its namesake village. The village is located within walking distance of the property and offers a good range of shops, as well as several pubs and cafes, and even a microbrewery. It is the perfect base for making the most of the stunning natural landscape, with the Old Man of Coniston offering a range of walks to the summit to suit all levels of fitness. On the lakeside, there is a boating centre from where visitors can participate in a range of water sports and hire a range of craft including canoes, sailing boats, and motor boats. Next to this facility, the National Trust run their beautifully restored Victorian steamers, taking visitors on leisurely cruises on the lake.

On arrival at this property, the first room that guests will come to is the kitchen/diner with its AGA oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, and washer/dryer, as well as a breakfast table. Next to the kitchen, the lounge is a cosy-feeling room with inviting seating, a stone fireplace with a warming open fire, a CD player, and Smart TV. Patio doors in this room open out onto the terraced garden and allow guests to enjoy the spectacular views. Stairs lead to the first floor where two of the property’s three bedrooms are situated. The first of these is an attractively-finished double room which benefits from an en-suite shower room with shower and WC. The second bedroom on this floor is a single bedroom, whilst there is also a bathroom on this floor with a shower over bath and WC. A second set of stairs leads up to the attic bedroom on the second floor, a charming double room, set in the eaves of the house which benefits from its own TV/DVD.

Patio doors from the lounge lead out to the split-level terraced garden, an idyllic space to relax over drinks and take in the spectacular views over Coniston Water from the table and chairs, or even a BBQ in the summer months. There is parking for two cars, but please note that the road leading to the property is steep and not suitable for vehicles with low ground clearance.

The property was absolutely perfect in so many ways - the location, the view, the decor and creature comforts. We enjoyed a most relaxing week here.

Rock Cottage was well equipped and the view over Coniston Water was amazing. Although it sleeps 6, 4 was ample.

Wonderful cottage perched on the hillside above coniston. You can walk straight from the cottage to the old man circuits , when we went (April 15-21) it was not only empty but the view was so clear you could see the Isle of Man. Beds very comfortable, kitchen well stocked , living room cozy especially nice with a fire going. The garden is on at leaRead morest 3 levels with a sun trap at the bottom. Was too cold for a bbq but Im sure thats all you would do in the summer. Easy walk to the restaurants! Hide

The location of this cottage is truly exceptional and a good balance between being close to the town (10-15 min. walk) yet distant enough to make you feel you're in the heart of the countryside. The cottage itself is very 'cosy and compact' but provides comfortable accommodation and is reasonably well equipped. Access is not as daunting as you may Read moreat first think especially if you follow the instructions provided and this cottage has the advantage of a hard standing parking bay. Hide

We loved the cottage. It must have one of the best views in the Lake District: it overlooks Lake Coniston and the fields and forests beyond. The beds were very comfortable and the cottage as a whole was well appointed.

Fabulous location, good accommodation but could be a fabulous place. Owner needs to visit with the eyes of a guest and declutter, improve cleanliness and upgrade things that are tired.

Lovely cosy cottage. Beautifully kept and cleaned . Stunning views. Great access to the village and hills via steep roads/ paths Only downside would be if you owned a low ground clearance car . Would definitely stay again No duffers here !

Breathtaking views and a lovely garden on three levels. Bunk beds are short so will only fit children. An amazing location and lovely clean cosy cottage. We had an open fire every night - there was even an outside fire pit!
