Nestled in the rolling hills of the Derbyshire Dales, on the edge of the Peak District National Park, the market town of Wirksworth is rightly described as the gem of the Peak. Its architectural heritage is as varied as its vibrant arts scene, meaning the town offers something for everyone. From independent eateries, shops, and a stylish art house cinema, there is so much to explore on your doorstep. Surrounded by a vast network of footpaths and quiet cycling lanes Wirksworth also boasts nearby popular destination Carsington Water. With its excellent visitor centre, walking and cycling routes around the lake and great opportunities for water sports, it makes for a fabulous day out. Another of the town’s unique attractions is the National Stone Centre, which offers activities such as gem-panning and fossil-casting. There is even a traditional steam railway, complete with Victorian station cafe. Bakewell, Ashbourne, Dovedale, Matlock Bath (home to Gullivers Kingdom Theme Park), Chatsworth, and Haddon Hall are all a short drive away.

This beautiful ground floor lodge built in 1766 has been converted with privacy in mind. Discover your front door through the atmospheric stone alleyway, the lodge welcomes you with a warm and inviting feel the moment you step foot into the property. The kitchen offers everything you need to rustle up a good meal during your stay including an electric oven and gas hob, dishwasher, and fridge. Spend evenings around the farmhouse dining table enjoying the mood lighting and catching up with good company. Wander through to the lounge which boasts beautiful character and a wood-burner where you can put your feet up on the stunning blue velvet sofa, which is also a sofa bed. Find a quiet corner and relax in an armchair with a good book and switch off from the world. The bedroom is a feast for the eyes with a stunning feature mural designed by a local artist complemented by feature drop lighting and a beautiful king-size bed. The large window lets the light flood in and the room is a given glamorous boudoir feel with well-chosen contemporary and retro furniture. There is a handy WC situated near the bedroom and the bathroom offers spacious walk in shower with double ended bath and WC, and underfloor heating for extra cosiness.

Outside there is an impressive courtyard where you can relax on the outdoor seating or dine outside in the fresh air on a warm evening.
