Perfect for outdoors enthusiasts, this contemporary cottage enjoys a great location in the east of the Peak District National Park, with the majestic Chatsworth House also close by.

This contemporary cottage enjoys a great location on the eastern edge of the Peak District, a much-loved National Park, offering walks for all abilities, from gently rolling hills to the heights of Kinder Scout. It is also just 5 miles from Chatsworth House, the filming location of Pride and Prejudice, and one of Britain’s best-loved stately homes. Many popular towns and villages are with a short distance, including Baslow (2 miles), Bakewell (6 miles) and Hathersage (8.5 miles). In the larger town of Chesterfield, you can browse the wide choice of independent shops and farmers’ markets.

A set of steps with a wrought iron hand rail lead up to this single-storey holiday cottage. Patio doors at the entrance take you inside the cottage, and immediately into the welcoming lounge area. Comfortable seating for four is centred around the wonderful wood burner, and there is also SkyTV/DVD and a selection of books, films and games to enjoy. Over in the contemporary open-plan kitchen/diner, there is everything here to make the cottage a real home from home, including a Neff electric oven, gas hob, fridge with ice compartment, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer. Tuck into a homecooked dinner around the dining table, which easily seats four. This property is single-storey, and thus the bathroom and the two bedrooms are also on the ground floor. The first bedroom is reached from the lounge, and features four-poster double bed, and great views out to the hills. The second bedroom enjoys a twin bedroom, which can be requested to be made into a super-king-size bed at the time of booking. Both bedrooms also have a TV with Sky Q, great for early nights or lazy breakfasts in bed. At the centre of the cottage is the bathroom, featuring a bath with shower over and a WC.

Outside, the property enjoys its own lawned garden with a private hot tub and seating perfect for soaking up the sunshine. There is plenty of space for some garden games or you can cook up an al fresco meal on the BBQ supplied. There is also a lovely water feature. The owner operates a small B&B alongside the cottage who's guests have their own private garden area too with every measure taken to ensure that you are not over looked.

  • 2 bedrooms: 1 twin zip-and-link bed (can be made into a super-king-size bed if requested at the time of booking) and 1 double bed
  • Bathroom with shower and WC
  • Electric oven, gas hob, fridge with ice compartment, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer
  • TV/DVD in the lounge, TV with Sky Q in both bedrooms

Positives were great hot tub, really comfy beds, plenty of towels, well stocked kitchen, bathroom products were a nice touch, plenty of hot water, nicely decorated, online guidebook to the cottage and local activity leaflets provided, taxi numbers provided and a good selection of DVD's. The negatives are that the internet access is poor, the cottagRead moree could have been cleaner as there were spider webs everywhere and a dirty BBQ and oven trays and only a very small fridge provided.
