  • Converted barn packed with original period features
  • Relax in the large and peaceful garden and explore the nearby market town of Machynlleth
Property code: SKN10

This characterful converted Grade 2 listed barn is set in a quiet valley on the southern edge of Snowdonia National Park, with market towns, outdoor thrills and beautiful landscapes all within easy reach.

Tucked away in the hamlet of Abercegir, this charming cottage is just a short distance from the unrivalled scenery of Snowdonia National Park and the many outdoor activities it offers, including walking, mountaineering and mountain biking. The town of Machynlleth can be found five miles away, and has a choice of places to eat and drink, as well as a weekly street market and a treasure trove of independent shops. Fifteen miles away is the harbour town of Aberdovey, surrounded by some of the finest beaches in Wales, looking out onto Cardigan Bay. You can also take in the local scenery on a ride onboard a narrow-gauge railway – try the Talyllyn or the Corris railways.

Upon entering the property, you will be greeted by the cosy lounge, complete with original wooden beams. Here you can curl up on the seating and warm up next to the lovely wood burner (initial supply of logs provided). An additional space for relaxing can be found in the mezzanine area, where there is more comfortable seating, a desk and a TV/DVD. TV signal is not available, however, there is a wide selection of DVDs, books and games to choose from providing plenty of entertainment. The heart of the property is the kitchen/diner, complete with oak fixtures and everything you need to fully enjoy your stay including a double oven, electric hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer, as well as an iPod dock so you can listen to music while you cook. The dining area, found in the adjoining conservatory area, seats six and there is also a breakfast bar with seating for two, ideal for more casual occasions. Beneath the mezzanine, you’ll find the first of the property’s three bedrooms: a double. A few more steps down lead to the master bedroom and the third bedroom, both with king-size beds. The master bedroom also enjoys an en-suite wet room with WC. Between the two other bedrooms you will find the family bathroom featuring a bath with shower over and WC – please be careful of the sloped ceiling, the room has low head height.

The conservatory leads out to the beautiful garden, beginning with a patio area complete with deckchairs. Steps from the patio take you down to the rest of the garden, with a lawn and decked area, which features a large table and chairs and BBQ perfect for dining al fresco. There is also a gentle stream which marks the border of the bottom of the garden. Ample parking for several cars is available around the property.

This cottage is spectacular, both in relation to the location and also the cottage itself. The kitchen diner is very well stocked with everything you will need. The heated floors are just heaven so it is always a comfortable temperature when you walk in. We go away to cottages with our 2 dogs all the time, and this one is very much a favourite.

The cottage is beautiful. The rooms are really great size, and the kitchen has everything you need, we were very impressed. Our favourite part was the dining room area, at night you can stay there with the lights off looking at the stars. Gorgeous well appointed cottage in lovely lush green welsh valley. Children and dog loved paddling in the stream at the bottom of the garden. Machynlleth within 15 min drive for supplies or Aberystwyth 45 min drive away for larger grocery shops, cafe's and restaurants. Coast approx. 30 min drive away as were lovely walks at Tan Y Coed.

Fabulous! A beautiful barn conversion, clean, comfortable and classy. Very well equipped with good quality kitchen ware and furnishings. Lots of car parking space and a beautiful back garden. Our dogs enjoyed the stream and so did we! So worth the price.
