Our visit to Red Kite Tree Tent

Kirsty 16 June 2017

One of our own recently visited the Red Kite Tree Tent and made an account of her stay in our most unusual property...

I have to be completely honest, glamping is not my bag… Or so I thought.

Alison and I visited the Tree Tent on a very grey, drizzly day (although seeing an exceptional number of red kites on the way did distract my attention from this throughout the journey). The Tree Tent exceeded my expectations in a very positive and surprising way.

The walk down to the site (which is quite steep, so do take care) was very impressive even in testing weather conditions! The flowing stream and the bridge over to the Tree Tent really made you feel quite honoured to be able to experience this beautiful haven of tranquility.

The camping area is well-planned and equipped, with all of your needs catered for. A generous wood store awaits and the cooking area is great for rustling up a delicious bite to eat.

My skeptical brain was soon kicked into touch when we opened up the tent itself (remember to unzip the door from the bottom up!). Even though your head says ‘No!’ (very loudly!) to a suspended tent in the trees, the experience once you go inside casts all doubts to one side. The interior of the tent brings a sense of comfort, luxury and a cosy vibe which grabs you and invites you to stay.

Although it was a wet breezy day you would never have imagined this from inside the tree tent; it is well insulated and creates a very idyllic retreat for glamorous camping – a phrase that I didn’t think would ever have entered my mind! The thought of firing up the little wood burning stove was very tempting but alas, there was more exploring to do!

It wasn’t difficult to imagine that, if it felt this good on a day like that, on a beautiful spring or summer’s day it would really come into its own. Just the notion of the harmonious combination of the sun beating down, the sound of the babbling stream and the fresh smell of the pine trees could very easily convince me that glamping at the Red Kite Tree Tent is one to add to my bucket list!

When can I come back?

The decking below the tent on the edge of the stream would be a perfect place to decamp to in the evening. The view, the restful qualities of this location, the sight of the red kites flying overhead, together with the fire pit at your feet keeping any evening chill at bay, is more than your heart could desire. Escaping from the bustle of normal day-to-day life and recharging your batteries at this idyllic secluded site is a very tempting notion...
