Walking Brechfa Forest
Brechfa Forest covers some 6,500 hectares and there are walking and mountain bike trails for everyone to enjoy, with horseriders welcome on forest roads.
There are also waymarked walking trails, with a 4 mile route starting from Byrgwm picnic site and two routes (of 2 and 5 miles) starting from Abergorlech picnic site. These trails are completely separate from the biking trails and so that mountain bikers and walkers can all enjoy the forest without worrying about disturbing each other.
If you want to walk further there are plenty of paths to explore independently in the forest or alternatively walks in the Brecon Beacons are just a short drive away.
The closest cottage to Brechfa forest is Manal, sleeping 4, just 4 miles away so you can cycle straight from the cottage. Alternatively Lletty, sleeping 6, and Great House, sleeping 6-10, are both within 25 miles so the forest makes a great day out for exploring the welsh countryside.
