For newly-weds seeking rustic chic, escape to Hafod Glan Gwy perched on the banks of the River Wye or Cider House near Abergavenny. Tailor’s Cottage or Hilltop are both in quiet Snowdonia Valleys, Tamar Cottages are in Devon’s Tamar Valley.
Hafod Glan Gwy was chosen by the Times this year as one their Best Romantic Getaways and was 1 of 50 best weekend retreats in the Independent so you don’t just need to take ours and our guests word for it that  this cosy cabin is perched on banks of the River Wye is an idyllic retreat.  Just 7 miles South East of Hay on Wye the cabin is compact but perfectly formed with ‘one-room living in a contemporary and a bed that folds down from the cupboard but which we are frequently told is the most comfortable our guests have ever slept in.
Fishing, canoeing, biking, riding and climbing can all be enjoyed nearby. There is also a good choice of places to eat including the Griffin or Bridge Inn and the more luxurious Llangoed Hall or Felin Fach Griffin. A visit to Hay on Wye with its intriguing book and coffee shops is a must.

Cosy bed at Cider House

Cider House was given the honour of Best Romantic hideaway by the Times and we and our guests agree that this cosy cottage really is a wonderful romantic escape.  In a peaceful, countryside location but just 7 miles from Abergavenny the cottage tempts you to stay and enjoy the stunning master bedroom or cuddle up in front of a roaring fire in the cosy lounge but there is lots to explore nearby too.
Outdoor enthusiasts will love the freedom of walking from the cottage door to climb Sugar Loaf or hike the Black Mountains. Fishing, biking, canoeing, riding and many other activities are close by. Good food can be found at 1861 – just a mile’s walk across the fields! For special dining try the Walnut Tree (4 miles) or The Hardwick (10 miles).

Bed at Tailors Cottage

Tailor’s Cottage is a new addition to our collection but already proving popular with romantic couples.  The perfect mix of traditional features and urban style and is equipped with all the modern comforts and facilities. Spend days relaxing in front of a glowing fire in the log burner or use the cottage as a base for exploring the craggy hills and valleys of Snowdonia. Newly-weds can stock up on local produce at the Rhug farm shop or enjoy a wholesome meal at one of the great pubs and restaurants in Betws y Coed, just 8 miles away. Tailor’s cottage welcomes pets so you can even take your four-legged friend on your honeymoon!

Bedroom at Hilltop

Hilltop, a truly rustic cottage, South of Betws y Coed. Located on the crest of a hill at the end of a private track it’s perfect for honeymooners as it offers complete privacy and seclusion. The cottage has a country cook’s kitchen where you can cook a feast together to enjoy in front of the wonderful fireplace.  There is a cosy lounge with another log burner and valley views and outside a tranquil garden to sit, maybe BBQ and enjoy the peaceful valley.
Hilltop is a paradise for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts with mountain biking, climbing and white water rafting nearby. For some excellent home-made food head for the intriguing Conwy Cafe (2 miles away) or visit Amser Da restaurant 8 miles away.

Bedroom at Tamar Cottages

Tamar Cottages: Just an apple tree apart, the cottages can be let separately or, if you want to ensure you are alone for your honeymoon, as a pair for complete privacy.  The two stylish cottages called The Counting House and The Forge each sleep two and are sumptuously comfortable featuring open plan cosy lounges with log burning stoves, fully equipped kitchens.  Each cottage has beautiful views from its private seating areas.
Calstock village, with pub and local store, is only a short walk away and within the beautiful Tamar valley gardens and history abound with The Garden House, Buckland Abbey, Cotehele House and Morewellham Quay.

Hotel comforts come as standard with all Sheepskin properties – fluffy bathrobes, luxurious cotton towels, logs for the fires, and beds made with soft cotton sheets, cosy Welsh blankets and generous faux furs – but you have all the privacy and freedom of your romantic hideaway.
