WaysideNear Dolgellau, Snowdonia, Wales Sleeps 4–6

A patchwork of fields and forests drape the slopes of this beautiful valley, the soft sounds of rural farmland drift reassuringly on the breeze.

“What an unexpected haven of warmth and comfort clinging to the most picturesque valley.” Mary & Steve

Once drovers herded their huge flocks this way looking for safe passage to England, stopping for rest at the historic villages en-route. The traffic has died down since then but Wayside remains a peaceful rural retreat, perfect for a family holiday. Nudging a quiet lane winding through the Dyfi valley, it’s also a tranquil place to soothe the soul a perfect place for relaxation and some ‘me time’.

A quintessentially Welsh, cosy character cottage ; the walls are rough and the beams exposed but the beds are luxuriously comfortable and the rooms all welcoming and warm. Inside and outside original features hold hands with modern comforts all with a considered finishing touch. Wayside has been lovingly prepared by a family who care about the past and care about your stay in their unique home.

Director magazine say “after a long drive it’s luxurious comfort your crave and Wayside doesn’t disappoint!”

Cathy Winston described Wayside as “One of the most luxurious ways to get away from it all….Country cottage with a large helping of cosy chic.”

Rustic charm beautifully finished in the Snowdonia mountain range

Inside Wayside

  • Quintessential country living, perfect for a UK family escape.
  • The heart of the cottage is an open-plan living area with cosy sofas around a wood-burning stove. Sociable dining table, within the spacious kitchen, looks out across the patio to the valley beyond.
  • The kitchen is well equipped for self-catering with all the tools you need, also including a dishwasher.
  • Hideaway in the master bedroom upstairs with exposed beams, a king sized bed and a large, quirky en-suite shower room.
  • Cosy and rustic but with all the mod-cons; WIFI internet, Sky TV and a ‘TV’ hideaway room upstairs with a big sofa and cool bean bags.

Wayside Reviews

“We wanted to let you know that we had a lovely time at Wayside Cottage, the place was beautiful and the Sheepskin experience is definitely one we’d recommend to our friends and family!” Ben, October 2011

“We had a fabulous time at Wayside this weekend. The cottage was perfect for our needs, particularly the nice big kitchen and the log fire. And of course, its setting is truly stunning. We did the first of your recommended walks (boy did we ache after that one!) and also went to Aberdovey for a walk along the beach. It was sunny all weekend!
So thank you very much from all of us, we’d certainly recommend it to our friends…” Amy, November 2010

“We had a great time at Wayside, so time to think about our next break!  We would like to try Lletty this time” – Ruth & Colin, October 2010

“What an unexpected haven of warmth and comfort clinging to the most picturesque valley. The drive out of the village towards Wayside was itself an adventure with the tiny road climbing and twisting, and although the drive was less than 2 miles you seemed to be in the very centre of your own valley.” -  Mary and Steve, April 2010
