Tailor’s Cottagenear Betws y Coed, Snowdonia Sleeps 2–4

A cosy dog friendly rural retreat in a peaceful, Snowdonia village,  just the perfect place for a family getaway from the city.

Hero shot - Tailor's interior

“Beautiful cottage in an idyllic spot, just perfect. Great romantic weekend away from it all.” Clare and Leo 2013,

Tailor’s cottage, quite simply; where the village Tailor and his family used to live and work.  The stone cottage has been renovated using a thoughtful mix of traditional features bringing in some modern style. Perfect for a family holiday for outdoor adventure and a cosy home to come back to in this peaceful location on the edge of Ysbyty Ifan village. Tailor’s Cottage is often used by couples; the comfy furnishings and the harmonious surroundings make the idylic location for a romantic getaway.

An antidote to city life but a home away from home with all of the mod cons, modern comforts and facilities.  Whether you want to relax in front of the cosy log burner or step out from the door and use the cottage as a base to explore the green hills and valleys of Snowdonia, Tailors cottage is the perfect hideaway.

Chic retreat in Snowdonia...

Inside Tailor’s Cottage

  • The under floor heating in the kitchen and central heating throughout means you always feel cosy.
  • Light the log burning stove in the lounge then sink  into the deep sofa.
  • A modern, kitchen yet the style is in-keeping with the character of the cottage with space for a dining table and chairs for four.
  • Fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to cook up a feast with a four ring electric hob, electric oven as well as a microwave and dishwasher.
  • Two double bedrooms, both cosy with views from the window looking out across the valley.
  • A contemporary styled bathroom with a ‘rain shower’ over the bath.
  • For guests with small children, the cottage can provide a cot, stair gate and high chair on request.
  • If you really need there is a washing machine, iron and ironing board too.

Outside Tailor’s Cottage

  • The cottage has a small enclosed seating area to the front where you can sit and watch the sun go down across the valley.
  • Parking for the cottage is just around the corner in front of the chapel.
  • Wander out from the door on footpaths that take you into the surrounding hills and eventually up to the moonscapes of the Migneint.
  • Breathtaking views of the green valleys

Things you should know

Tailor’s cottage sits alongside a single track lane, which serves the farm beyond before it comes to an end after around 500m.

Tailor’s cottage is detached and sits at the edge of the village. There are other buildings nearby, to the rear of the house, including an empty chapel which you can see in the images.

With it being an old property, the door frames are lower than normal so take care, particularly upstairs when entering the rooms.

The mobile reception is poor depending on network but you can get a signal back down the lane in Ysbyty Ifan.

Pets are welcome at Tailor’s cottage for a small additional charge.

Stylist Review

This was the ultimate antidote to a hectic existence…

Tailor's Cottage Reviews

With regard to our stay at Tailors Cottage, we really did have the most fabulous time.  It could not have been more perfect and everything had been thought of.  We shall certainly be coming back to Sheepskin and I will be recommending it to anyone who will listen.  It was a great treat to get away but to have everything done so beautifully and with such quality was very spoiling. The shower was amazing and then to collapse into a bed  made with crisp cotton sheets was heaven having spent a cosy evening by the fire. We had a delicious dinner at Ty Gwynn, which was a brilliant recommendation and your guide was excellent and we used as our bible to get around and decide what we wanted to do.  All in all it was perfect and we can not wait to go away again with Sheepskin so I shall be on the website again to see where we can go, hopefully with the dogs as well. Diana, June 2013

I wish I’d booked for longer, cottage has everything you could possibly need & everything is excellent quality from the bed sheets, towels, cooker, taps to the cups and saucers! It gets 10/10 we’d go back. The location was fab, we wanted peace and got it, no phone signal unless you walk up the hill but that suited too. Excellent out your front door walks, short drive to some fantastic waterfalls and lakes, nearby towns and villages. No pub or shop in village, nearest pub and shop is a drive not a walk really but that wasn’t an issue. I’ll happily go back to this cottage and this location. Emma, October 2012

What a fabulous place to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Beautiful warm and cosy cottage, perfect for all weathers, hope to return soon.  Alan & Bryony, September 2012

”Just wanted to mail to say thank you for the wonderful weekend we had in Tailors cottage. A beautiful cottage with all the style and charm that I know would take me an eternity to find in any other place…if I hadn’t found your web site!” Craig & Karen, September 2012

“We had a wonderful stay at Tailor’s cottage! We enjoyed both the national park and the cottage itself very much. And we were very lucky with the weather, it had been sunny for 4 consecutive days! ” Matthijs, July 2012

”Hi, I have been meaning to email you since our return from Tailors Cottage. We were blessed with amazing weather and would like to say that we all thought the standard of the cottage clean & beautifully decorated and the goody bag was all excellent. The beds were lovely and snuggly and I forgot to see where the pillows came from, if you knew I would like to replace mine and they were fantastic! We will definitely recommend your company and hope to visit in the near future ” Alicia, April 2012

“We really had a great time there at the cottage. It was as lovely as advertised on the web…We would definitely recommend my friends and families to go there and I would surely use sheepskin again as we are missing it already!” Parada, December 2011
