Regional Food Festivals

We are blessed in the UK with so many regions proud of their food, celebrated year round with a number of events. Here we have chosen a few which might just tempt you to visit…

19th to the 21st of August holds Plymouth’s Flavour Fest in its 8th year, and is the highlight of the South Wests food and drink calendar.  This is held outdoors and has the feel of a Continental Market.  Enjoy the feast during the day and enjoy peace an trqanquility in the evening with one of our hidden away cottages at Tamar as your base.

If you stay at Wayside, you can make the short journey to Welshpool where 5th Welsh Food Festival is happening, on the 3rd and 4th of September, this is proud to be not for profit, held in the beautiful grounds of Glansevern Hall.  Packed with a range of interesting things to do and see, including bee keeping, pizza making – with authentic cob ovens and intriguingly Shropshire Master Composters!

On the 17th and 18th of September, the Abergavenny Food Festival will be going on, this is a massive event, last year 37,000 people attended! It is held in six venues with over 200 stalls. Enjoy the hubbub and sights of this festival, then retreat to the wonderfully peaceful haven of Cider House.

The 8th and 9th of October, sees the 13th Anglesey Oyster and Welsh Produce festival , showcasing the unique Menai Oysters, but  they also have producers of Welsh cheese, ice cream, wine, cakes and there’s even a black tie Gala Dinner, with a sausage competition on the Sunday morning! Stay at Rhoscolyn House and enjoy the sea from your own garden!

Llangollen’s 14th Food Festival takes place on  15th and 16th of October 2011 and has over 100 exhibitors, and includes a Childrens Food Festival and Beer Festival, so something for all the family to enjoy for the weekend!  Hilltop, Tailor’s Cottage and Old Farm all make great bases to enjoy the food fesitval and the rest of Snowdonia National park.
