A lovely, restored country cottage with lots of character and original features, with a sunny enclosed garden overlooking open countryside, perfect wildlife and bird watching.

The cottage is located in the pretty village of Pooley Bridge, which sits on the River Eamont and beautiful Ullswater, and there are many country pubs serving good food and local beer nearby. If you want to get out and explore the fells, or you are a keen cyclist or water sports enthusiast, then this is the perfect spot for you! Take a boat from the village to Howtown where you can walk to Glenridding and catch the boat back to Pooley Bridge. This was one of Wordsworth's favourite walks and offers views of Ullswater and Helvellyn. Moor Divock has pre-historic remains and a standing stone and stone circle to admire, or enjoy a day at Dalemain Mansion and Historic Gardens. Aira Force Waterfall is also just 6 miles away, set amongst ancient woodland and landscaped glades.

This pretty cottage has been lovingly restored. As you walk into the open-plan ground floor you will find the lounge with a cosy wood burner, comfy seating, Smart TV and a small office area. The sandstone flooring which runs throughout the ground floor is stunning along with the feature beams. There is a spacious kitchen with an electric range-style oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, coffee machine and microwave. Opposite the kitchen is the dining table, a great place to catch up with friends and family. There is also a useful utility/coat/boot room off the kitchen where you will find a washing machine and tumble dryer - it offers plenty of space for your dog’s bed and access out to the enclosed garden. Heading up the sandstone staircase, you will find three beautifully styled contemporary bedrooms, two doubles and one king-size, all are en-suite with a shower and WC. The bedroom to the rear of the property, overlooking the garden, has a floor-to-ceiling glass window in the en-suite bathroom which features one-way glass so you can shower while enjoying the countryside without worrying about your privacy! The pretty double bedroom has an original feature fireplace and a family bathroom next door with a stunning freestanding bath, handheld shower and WC.

There is a lovely, enclosed south-facing garden with views over the fields, it is a lovely spot to sit out on a summer’s evening, read a good book and enjoy a glass of wine. There is private parking for two cars.

We had an amazing Easter break at Butt cottage, in what is a really scenic and amazing area. The cottage is spacious, yet cozy and the fire was a great treat after a long day on the fells. One of the best cottages we have stayed in. Wonderfully comfortable beds and a huge bath to return to after a day out walking. Super clean and well maintained. Enclosed garden was great for our dog. Perfect location, quiet yet near shops and pubs. We hope to return.

Lovely cottage and although only a minutes walk from the centre of everything was very quiet. Spotlessly clean. All 3 bedrooms are good sizes and the en-suites large and showers powerful. The property has been beautifully renovated and is in a stunning location. The pictures on the website are a little flattering as the property is much smaller than depicted. Butt Cottage is in a fantastic position in lovely Pooley Bridge. Renovated to a high standard and homely. We immediately felt relaxed. The enclosed garden is an added bonus , especially if you have children or a dog. Looking out at the field in the sunshine was wonderful at any time of day. We would definitely return.
