Take a boat from the village to Howtown where you can walk to Glenridding and catch the boat back to Pooley Bridge. This was one of Wordsworth's favourite walks and offers views of Ullswater and Helvellyn. Moor Divock has pre-historic remains and a standing stone and stone circle to admire, or enjoy a day at Dalemain Mansion and Historic Gardens. Aira Force Waterfall is also just 6 miles away, set amongst ancient woodland and landscaped glades.
