Visit the Blue John a stunning series of caverns, in the Peak District, considered to be the finest in the UK and they are home to Britain’s rarest mineral. Blue John was first discovered at Castleton by the Romans almost 2000 years ago. The deposits here are the world’s only known deposits of this extremely rare and beautiful stone.
Proving how the Romans used and treasured Blue John Stone; during excavations at Pompeii two vases of Blue John Stone were supposedly unearthed.
