12 Things to do…Ride on the Moors!

An invigorating way to experience the varied landscapes of the UK is by horseback. Dartmoor, Exmoor and the Peak District in particular have spectacular scenery to discover this way.  Many riding stables offer trekking for first time riders and taster sessions for younger members of your group.  We have picked a few here that offer something for all of the family…

Ride an Exmoor pony on its native soil.  The Moorland Mousie Trust offer taster sessions for children 5 years and up and all day rides on the moor for those over 10.  Stunning Shell House makes a great  base for your group with the best of both worlds; located by the sea yet with Exmoor on your doorstep.  A perfect base for visiting the riding centre just 18 miles away…

In the Peak District there are options for all the family at Lady Booth riding stables with longer treks, available for all over 12 years old, across the moors of Hope Valley and out to Mam Tor.  Our recent addition The Music Mill is a fantastic house in which to base yourself and experience riding on the Peak District Moors, just 7.5 miles from the riding centre at Edale.
